Ready to Work Aurora Updates

Dear Supporter!

I am thrilled to share with you the latest updates on Ready to Work Aurora.

We have begun renovation at our future home located at 3176 S. Peoria Court! Thanks to our terrific project team led by Coburn Partners, the DAE Group, and Weitz Construction, the project is scheduled to be completed by mid-fall and we anticipating opening our doors for Ready to Work participants in early December 2018.

As you know, the Ready to Work program is a “work-first” solution to address homelessness. Ready to Work applies a business approach toward solving increasingly difficult and expensive social problems – homelessness, joblessness, and criminal recidivism.  Ready to Work Aurora will provide employment and housing 50 adults who are transitioning out of homelessness. This expansion will more than double the impact of Ready to Work in the metro Denver region from 44 to 94! Click here to learn more about our model

Ready to Work Aurora has been made possible by the incredibly generous support of the City of Aurora, the State of Colorado, private foundations, and New Market Tax Credit investment from Northern Trust.

It is also my pleasure to announce that Brian Arnold will join Ready to Work Aurora as our Program Director on September 4, 2018! Brian comes to Ready to Work with outstanding leadership and community development experience in Aurora. Brian will oversee all aspects of Ready to Work including housing operations, program management, social enterprise development, and community relations.

Brian currently serves as the CEO of Aurora Warms the Night, a non-profit organization that seeks to preserve the life, health and stability of Aurora’s residents facing homelessness. Brian also serves as the chaplain at Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital in Aurora. He enjoys coaching track at Cherokee Trail High School and being a CHSAA Track and Field Official.

Brian will transition from Aurora Warms the Night into his new role at Ready to Work over the month of August. Both organizations will collaborate to ensure the ongoing success of their respective programs designed to improve the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness in Aurora.

Brian serves on many boards and committees including the Close to Home Grassroots Network, the Aurora Citizens Advisory Budget Committee, the Affordable Housing Task Force, the Aurora Key Community Response Team, and the Metro Denver Homeless Initiative Board of Directors.

Brian is a native of Aurora and his background includes being a world-class athlete; an elementary, junior high, and high school teacher; a college professor; a football, basketball, and track coach; and a college administrator. Brian also owned a financial services business before he moved back to Colorado in 2010 to further his leadership consulting business.

Brian has a passion for improving the lives of the citizens of Aurora. He and his wife Renee have 8 children and 5 grandchildren with a 6th and 7th on the way.
