Ready to Work is a win/win for Boulder

As an employment-based solution to help homeless individuals become independent, Bridge House’s Ready to Work program has great appeal.

Our official launch celebration on January 10, 2012 attracted over 50 Boulder citizens. Held on the plaza in front of the Court house – a downtown location with a rich history of discourse – the Ready to Work crew was introduced to government officials, business owners, civic leaders, and long-time homeless advocates. Speakers included, Chad Carbone – Ready to Work supervisor who was once homeless himself, George Karakehian – City Council Member and Owner of Art Source International, and Walker Stapleton – State Treasurer of Colorado.

Ready to Work combines paid employment in supplemental sanitation services with support services, such as case management, financial management and access to transitional housing, to help homeless individuals re-enter the workforce.

Collaborative by design, Ready to Work provides invaluable cleaning services assisting City agencies and enhancing Boulder’s downtown business district, and, most importantly, providing a “real job” for those already in the Ready to Work program and hope for homeless individuals looking for a pathway to self-sufficiency. After six months, Ready to Work trainees with seek mainstream employment, independent housing and remain clean and sober.
