On the Ninth Day of Christmas, Bridge House Gave to Me: Holiday Cheer and Camaraderie

When most of us think of the holidays, we think of family, friends, good food and a giving spirit. This Thursday, those were all out in full force at the annual Holiday Dinner put on by the Community Table with the amazing help of Savory Cuisines and a full crew of volunteers representing 4 generations and all walks of life.

Each year, the guests all look forward to the incredible job that Savory Cuisines does catering the meal. The most popular thing the guests raved about this year were the delicious meatballs, with many guests asking for additional plates filled only with those! While the dinner took place at the usual spot for a Thursday night, First United Methodist Church was especially fun and festive. To really get everyone in the holiday spirit, during dinner, one of our wonderful volunteers played Christmas carols on the piano while a guest with a lovely voice sang along (pictured).

The only thing at the dinner to rival the food was the camaraderie and good cheer that everyone had for one another. This time of year, it’s easy to lose sight of the real reason for the season, but the friendliness and warmth at the dinner tables and among friends made the true spirit of the holidays unmistakable. It also clearly showed the true spirit behind the work that Bridge House does every day and every season throughout the year: that each person that comes through the door is welcomed and treated with kindness, warmth and respect.
