Bridge House is putting homeless people to work!

Our clients have asked for it, our staff have yearned for it, and our Board is committed! Ready to Work is the name of our program, and be on the lookout beginning 12/12 as you may see them on the Pearl Street Mall, Boulder Creek and University Hill. These projects are service that we have offered the community. Not only is it important for us to give back, but we are hoping that local employers will notice the quality and diligence of the work. We are seeking contract employment for our highly motivated Ready to Work crew! Our program is based on a national model developed by the Doe Fund named Ready Willing and Able. For more information go to the www.doe.org

Our participants are carefully screened, drug tested, participate in case management and save at least a third of their income . Each time the crew goes to a work site, they are accompanied by their supervisor, who not only monitors their work, but also teaches them some of the “soft skills” of employment. We are paying our participants $8 an hour and they take their work quite seriously. The Boulder Shelter for the Homeless has been a great collaborator—they provide beds in their transitional program, to increase the stability of Ready to Work participants.

Look for our crew starting work on December 12th on the Pearl Street Mall. Join us on January 10th at 8:30AM at 13th and Pearl for our launch event and reception.
